A new TV season is about to start and networks are hoping to find the next "Lost", "Heros", or "American Idol". As some old favorites fad away into reruns, which new shows have the most promise of succeeding? Here is a rundown of some that have caught my eye.
The Bionic Woman: Remakes are hit or miss at the movies but as a fan of the original I can't help but to be intrigued by the possibilities. I'm sure the lead is going to make it to the hot chicks group by at least October. I think this will make it past the first cut and maybe a couple of semi-productive seasons.
Cavemen: This has created a lot of buzz because of the contraversy of its racist undertones. I admit I thought the commercials were funny. In small doses the cavemen were entertaining but can they sustain it over the course of a sitcom. This one is going to have to take some risks like the commercial and I believe eventually that will be its downfall. A novelty that may last one season.
The Search for America's Next Great Band: Another American Idol wanna be. This genre is getting old and with a low buzz factor I predict immenent doom.
Pushing Daisies: This is a love story with an interesting plot twist. The young man can bring people back to life momentarily with a touch. He uses his power to solve murders. There is another story line about a former love but I don't want to ruin it...I like the promos. Unlike Bionic Woman, whose promos are a bit corny, this one peaked my interest to set my TIVO. Maybe not the next "Lost" but looks solid.
Sam I Am: I admit it...I'm still in love with Kelly Bundy. Christina Applegate is one of the few familiar faces this fall as networks go younger and foreign. She plays a woman trying to regain herself after a hit and run accident leaves her with amnesia. Plot twist: She was rude before the accident and after the accident finds herself with no friends. To top that all off the hit and run was a murder attempt. Sounds like Regarding Henry meets CSI. Prognosis is not good.
Chuck: This is called an action dramady. Chuck is a nerd turned secret agent. Probably a mix between the 40 year old Virgin and Jackie Chan. Any show with a Baldwin usually gets a thumbs down but I find this may be the sleeper hit.
Moonlight: A vampire private investigator who uses his power to protect the living. He isn't very popular with the other vampires who only sees human as a source of food. I'm thinking this is along the line of the Blade movies with love interest and all. I love vampires so I'll be watching.
